THE OFFICIAL WATCH OF THE ENGINEERING ARMY: RADIUM SAPPØR

Dear Sappers, The Chief of Staff's tradition group with support from the undergrowth is pleased to present the Engineer Corps' official watch "Radium Sappers".

This is the Engineer Corps' specially developed wristwatch. Radium Sappør shows our pride in the Engineer Corps as a branch, in general and with regard to the branch's ongoing growth and transformation process.

The watch is designed with simplicity in mind, ensuring very quick readability and the absence of parts or features that can wear out or break.

The design concept reflects the Engineer Corps through a unique and unmistakable blue “bridge”. This says something about building a bridge between today’s and tomorrow’s Engineer Corps, and the element is also reminiscent of a physical bridge, which can transport people both back and forth. The “blue bridge” is placed and dimensioned so that it picks up the blue “edge” on the uniform sleeves of the gala uniform. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the color of the blue bow is identical to the blue elements of the gala uniform.

The engineer weapon's cuirass is placed clearly and distinctly on the dial, strategically placed at 8 o'clock due to the nickname 8.1, and will glow blue in the dark.

In the dark, the clock's hands, numbers and hour markers glow blue, reflecting the blue color of the Engineer Corps. This lasts "all night long" assuming night vision and dark surroundings.

"Ubique Quo Fas Et Gloria Ducunt" is laser engraved in a circle with three optional characters and the serial number in the center of the back cover.

Mine sign detail in red on the hour hand emphasizes one of the Engineer Corps' central areas of operation.

WARRANTY : Two-year warranty on moving parts, five-year warranty on static parts

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

1. VERY ROBUST and field-tested watch that can withstand harsh use on land, at sea, in corrosive environments, in strong magnetic fields and more

2. WATERPROOF to 200 meters

3. SCRATCH-FREE sapphire crystal

4. RELIABLE SWISS MOVEMENT (Sellita SW200-1) with a power reserve of over 40 hours. This well-known movement can be repaired if necessary by watchmakers worldwide, who usually have local access to spare parts

5. VERY STRONG STRAP ATTACHMENT prevents the watch from detaching from the strap

6. ANTI-CORROSIVE LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINUM CASE

7. NON-MAGNETIC ALUMINUM CASE  - crucial for viability and precision

8. THE WORLD'S BEST LUMINOUS material ensures optimal readability in the dark

9. DURABLE: Of course, the clock is mechanical and therefore independent of batteries, which ensures that the clock will run for many generations regardless of technology.

ALUMINUM IN RELATION TO MAGNETISM

Radium Instruments is one of the very few manufacturers that uses the non-magnetic metal aluminum. Here are some of the most important reasons why this is an advantage:

  1. ACCURACY: Mechanical movements are very sensitive to magnetic fields. When a watch is exposed to a magnetic field, it can disrupt the small parts that keep the movement running, such as springs and gears. This can cause the watch to lose precision and not keep accurate time. In extreme cases, magnetism can even stop the movement completely.

  2. USE IN SPECIAL PROFESSIONS AND ENVIRONMENTS: Certain professions, such as pilots, engineers, doctors and scientists, may be in environments with strong magnetic fields, for example near large machinery or equipment that generates electromagnetic fields. In such cases, it is essential that the watch is not affected by magnetism, both for its accuracy and to prevent it from being damaged by the impact.

  3. LONG-TERM RELIABILITY: High-precision watches must be reliable over the long term. A movement that is not protected against magnetism can develop problems as the watch is exposed to magnetic fields through everyday use (such as wearing the watch near electronic devices such as cell phones or computers). Using a non-magnetic metal extends the life and reliability of the watch.
